John Balder brings a wealth of experience in monetary policy, global currency markets and asset allocation to our firm. He has both public and private sector experience and has taught at multiple universities. John has worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He was an economist for the House of Representatives Banking Committee and a Senior Economist for the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services. His private sector investment experience includes asset allocation, fixed income and currency strategy work. John was a Vice President and Portfolio Strategist in the currency group at State Street Global Advisors; a Senior Vice President in the Fixed Income Group at State Street Research & Management; and Portfolio Strategist in the Fixed Income Group at Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co. John has been an adjunct professor in the Finance Department at Suffolk University and the International Business School at Brandeis. He has published numerous articles in publications including Seeking Alpha, Pensions & Investments, and Challenge: Magazine of Economic Affairs. John earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics from Bucknell University and a Masters in Economics from American University, where he served as Adjunct Professor, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.
